Background

Cisco's worldwide partner ecosystem spans 150+ partner organizations. Many of them could not get their field engineers to deployment-ready on the Cisco Security portfolio — Cisco ISE, Umbrella, and Duo — because employee churn and hyper-accelerated onboarding kept adding engineers faster than the expertise could be transferred.

Challenges

• A deployment expertise gap — engineers joined and were put in front of customers without being brought up to speed on Cisco Security solutions.
• Churn erased knowledge — each departure took hard-won deployment experience with it, and onboarding never caught up.
• The confidence gap cost revenue — engineers who are not sure they can deploy a solution do not pitch its value proposition, which makes Cisco Security revenue harder to generate.

Solution

ModernCyber built, delivered, and validated students through four two-day instructor-led post-sales deployment courses:

• Cisco Umbrella 301 Field Engineer Training
• Cisco Duo 301 Field Engineer Training
• Cisco ISE 301 and ISE 302 Field Engineer Training

Each course ran as 4 hours of instructor-led lecture plus 12 hours of supported lab time in a customized Cisco dCloud lab environment, delivered both in person and virtually to class sizes of 30–100 students across AMER, APAC, and EMEA.

Outcomes

• 3,550+ partner engineers trained in FY24 — 1,050 on Cisco ISE and 2,500 on Duo and/or Umbrella.
• 4,500+ engineers trained overall across 150+ worldwide partner organizations in ModernCyber field engineering courses.
• Confidence on both sides of the sale — engineers who can run a POV and then deploy it, which is what converts into Cisco Security revenue.
